Password Protected Directories
What are password-protected directories? What do they indicate for your site?
A password-protected directory is a folder that can't be accessed unless the proper login credentials are provided. This could be an entire site or just a single page that is located in a subfolder. If you try to open this type of a directory, you will see a browser pop-up where you will need to input a username and a password. In case you enter the appropriate ones, you can continue surfing around the content without having to do anything additional. In case the login credentials aren't right, however, you shall see information that you are not allowed to view the content. When this option is enabled, you won't be able to open a file even when you have a direct link. The function is extremely handy if you wish to prohibit the access to some content or if you are developing a site and you don't want visitors to be able to access it before it's ready.

Password Protected Directories in Hosting
With the password protection tool that comes with each and every hosting package deal which we offer, you shall be able to secure any content that you have in your account with just a few clicks. Because the tool is a component of our ground breaking Hepsia Control Panel, it features exactly the same uncomplicated interface and you'll not need any special skills to use it. As soon as you visit the Password Protection section, you will have to pick one of the domains or subdomains which you have inside the account and then choose if the protection should be activated for the primary folder or for a subfolder. Then type the username and the password you want and you shall be ready. A small padlock icon inside the File Manager section will tell you that a specific folder is password-protected. In the same way you will be able to add many usernames and passwords for the same folder if you'd like several people to have their own login credentials.
